My first public site, “TiffanyxGraphix” (oh yeah) was hosted by Freewebs. It was fantastically coded using Frontpage with fixed DIV layers and crappy coding aplenty. The layout was premade and it featured Chibimaru, a Sanrio character *coughillegalcough*. The site was aimed toward the ‘graphix’ scene with blends and multi-colors.
My first real site was hosted by Lai. This time, I made my own layout, still using illegal images, but it was my own. I had crappy content that was made using tutorials. The site opened up in a tiny popup and had really small content space (iFrames duh). That was during the pixelling age (powered by HaloScan).
Later, for the same site I switched to a more advanced coding stage (realizing Frontpage sucks). It was an introduction to X/HTML and PHP as I started exploring Wordpress. I used an iFrame based theme by Jays for a different layout (still in the same style though: popup, tiny, iFrames). After that, I moved onto another pre-made theme by Jays, but this time it was different. It had a sidebar and separate sections with headers. This was all made of DIV layers; I’ve never used anything else since.
Summary:
- iFrames are Bad
- Graphix are Sad
- Pop-Ups are Mad
- Lai was Rad
