Juice Pouches

9/21/08: In this entry, you’ll notice I mention I have a category for Rachael, but I don’t anymore because I don’t have much of purpose for it now, but throughout the month I posted some pretty random entries relating to her entry.

In response, and purely tribute to Rachael’s entry because its right/totally awesome/advice you should take. I’ll post more things like this in a course of the month. I dub February the month of fulfilling Rachael’s wishes (even though her birthday is in August).

What do you think happens to the little piece of paper that you poke through with a straw in a juice box or a juice pouches? My response: I always thought that they disappeared, like they just vanished.

PS. I now have a category for Rachael.

Weather

When people come to visit Chicago, they usually choose to come in the Winter. Well the truth is Winter in Chicago sucks (take in mind, I’m not one to emphasize my words). I spent 30 minutes outside waiting to get picked up. Snow forming on my hat, I (stupidly) wasn’t wearing my scarf at the time. I wore my favorite socks with a hole in them, and a pair Chucks. Usually winter jacket is really good at keeping me warm, but decided to fail me this time. I also wore my knit (really old) gloves.

I paced the sidewalk counting the seconds. I talked to two strangers (one looking for directions to Timbuktu, and a lady complaining about snow), and I saw a woman with a fox like dog, and I traced patterns in the snow with my shoe. My super long (flared) jeans were coated in snow, and my shoes which have eyelets on the side let in a lot of snow. My feet were cold and wet, my head was congested, and I really didn’t want to be there. My fingers were/are frozen.

I’m sitting at home right now, pretending my heated apple juice is warm cider, and wearing a hat and a scarf indoors. *le sigh* Winter I love you, but you’re bringing me down.

Let Them Eat Cake

9/21/08: This is one of my favorite layouts I’ve ever made.

After realizing that the current layout has been up for a while with no actual entry about it yet, here I am. Let Them Eat Cake just started out as an experiment (meaning that the layout will be up for a while). It originally began as an experiment revolving around dynamic/conditional sidebars, because I despise widgets. It grew into a more pages, better organization, and incredibly neat little features.

The new pages that I added were: movies (I watch a bunch), Contact Form (I didn’t have one before), and Links (apparently I didn’t have a link list either).

The organization started at the root of the sidebar, and ended up tidying up my CSS (today). The sidebar features sub-pages, additional links, related posts, a no submit button search button, and a category list. If you notice I decorated my blockquote tags, and I’m using unordered lists more often. I also used Jordan’s installed CSSTidy (lol).

The little features I incorporated were: Custom Error Pages from Andrew Ferguson, an easier way to subscribe to my feed, and a credit section.

Let Them End Cake: Finite

Endings

In Movies: the Happily Ever Afters, the Tragic Ending that signifies that the story just can’t continue, or the Cliffhanger that just leaves you wanting more. Which do we consider is better, be it any movie?

Happily ever afters are sometimes considered unfinished stories. They aren’t realistic, but they offer closure compared to other endings. When watching movies do we desire closure or perhaps some realism?

When watching tragic endings, you can’t help but feel sad. Are they just lack of a resolution, or do they carry a sense of reality that’s meaningful?

If you don’t fancy resolutions, nor enlightenment, we have cliffhangers to end our stories. For lack of words, I can’t even begin to describe how pissed off how some cliffhangers make me. Are cliffhangers just preludes to a worse outcome?

In conclusion can any endings equate to our standards, or are they just too high?
