I like any type ending, just as long as it fits the story. I don't like cliffhangers because I feel that they are just so...unfinished. I like to know what happens, I like me some full conclusions :P.

Like Aisling said, it really does depend on the movie itself. I think happy endings, no matter how unrealistic, give us hope; maybe something that magical could happen to me! Tragic endings are usually more powerful, though.

But when the story is unresolved with a cliffhanger - I hate that. It's like taking the easy way out and not telling the full story. It reminds me too much of how real life continues on.

I think a happy ending is always best, it leaves you feeling all fuzzy inside.

I think it really depends on my expectations of the story at the beginning. That determines how I want it to end. Of course, I idealize a happy ending, but I also don't want to be condescended to. I want it to be realistic. With things like chick flicks, I'm generally set for a mindless ride of enjoyment, so the ending is not important. However, with serious dramas, I want the ending to make me think, to consider the world, and to expand my ideas.
