Why?

Why do we spend hours working out the kinks in our layout? Why do we try to better ourselves all the time? Why do we struggle to be original and fresh? Why do we blog? Why do we try to please people? It seems I’ve been trying to write this entry in my head for weeks, the words and phrases falling short within the lines.

Originally when I started blogging, I just wanted to be proud of myself, and be able to show that I’ve made my mark/influence in the world (I don’t necessarily think I’ve done that, but that was a long time ago). Now I just want to prove that I can better myself (don’t know if I do that anymore).

What little form of comfort do you find in web-designing or blogging that makes it worth it?

Why do we spend hours working out the kinks in our layout?
I do it because I enjoy designing and I’m not satisfied until it’s as perfect as I can make it.

Why do we try to better ourselves all the time?
If I’m doing something, I want to do it the best way I can. That means constantly striving to improve.

Why do we struggle to be original and fresh?
We want to be original/fresh because otherwise, we would be boring. Personally, I struggle with that because I’m not that creative and my mind is somewhat limited to the way things are.

    Why do we blog?
To me, it’s an extension of real-life interaction. Why do I hang out with my friends? I want to share and discuss things with others.

Why do we try to please people?
It’s human nature. I don’t think anyone wants to be alone…

I was going to have this awesome answer in response to your entry, but Kaylee pretty much summed it up. I myself am a people-pleaser. It’s my nature to want to please everyone, although I’m getting used to the fact that I don’t have to. It actually feels good to think of myself for once, and please only myself. Which is why I don’t bother with layouts so much. I just upload a new theme and I’m done with it. I have no time to make one up from scratch and tweak it until I pass out. ;)

I blog because I have something to say and I want to share it. I design because I like to personalize my little space and make it my own. I try to keep it simple.
